Show Internet Speed on Windows Taskbar

In many Android devices, we can see a traffic monitor/internet speed indicator on the top status bar. In Windows, we have to use the Task Manager application to see the current traffic usage. There is no default traffic monitor on the Taskbar or any other directly visible places. Here is how to get the Traffic Monitor on your Windows Taskbar (applicable for Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8 & Windows 7).

First of all, download this small Traffic Monitor application from the following link:

  • Download and Extract the application to a convenient location (preferably in C: or OS drive)
  • Open the TrafficMonitor.exe from the extracted folder (It is better to run the program as Administrator)
  • Now you will have a small floating window on your Desktop, as seen below:
  • Right Click on the floating Window and then:
Check ‘Show Taskbar Windows‘ & Uncheck ‘Show Main Window
  • That’s it, there should be a Traffic Monitor on your Taskbar now!
Below is a screenshot of my taskbar with is program running:
  • You will need to Right Click on the display, then choose Options… and under the General Settings tab, check Auto run when Windows start option in order to see this Traffic Monitor on your taskbar every time you open your Windows.
  • You can customize the display by adding or removing other features like CPU Monitor, Memory Usage etc. by Right Clicking on the display and selecting Display Settings

There are so many other customizations in this tool, in the Options section. You can adjust the Font, Icons, Color etc. using this Options windows. Use them as your needs and Enjoy! Don’t forget to share this article if you think it was helpful 🙂
